Direct Relief International

Direct Relief International provides medical assistance to improve the quality of life for people affected by poverty, disaster, and civil unrest at home and throughout the world. They work to strengthen the in-country health efforts of their partners by providing essential material resources – medicines, supplies and equipment. Direct Relief’s assistance programs have always been tailored to be responsive to the partner organizations’ particular circumstances and needs. Direct Relief partners typically provide health services to people in rural areas that are poor, lack health infrastructure, and in which severe health challenges exist. To date, DRI has provided over 9,500 pounds of medications, medical equipment and supplies to the Floating Doctors medical mission.

Abbott Laboratories are a global, broad-based health care company devoted to discovering new medicines, new technologies and new ways to manage health challenges. Abbott have provided their iStat handheld blood analyzer and test cartridges, as well as funds to support the Floating Doctors commitment to bringing advanced medical diagnostics to the developing world.
Chaminade College Preparatory High School

Chaminade prepares college-bound students throughout their middle and high school years in a rigorous program of academic excellence. Students from a diversity of cultural, religious and economic backgrounds come together for an active and varied curricular and extracurricular program. The mission of Chaminade College Preparatory is to form morally aware and academically capable people to be outstanding contributors to the future. Chaminade Students, Faculty, and Parents participated in our first annual “Paddle for Health” charity kayaking event, and have supported the Floating Doctors through funding and donations of equipment and supplies.
Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland

For over two hundred years RCSI has played a major role in medical education and training in Ireland. Founded in 1784 to train surgeons, a medical school was later established in 1886. Today RCSI has schools of Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing and healthcare management. In addition to Undergraduate education RCSI delivers postgraduate training and education through its Faculties of Radiology, Dentistry, Sports & Exercise Medicine and the school of Postgraduate Studies. The RCSI Research Institute is one of Ireland’s foremost research centers. Besides matriculating Dr. Benjamin La Brot, RCSI is facilitating the Floating Doctors and connecting us with its international alumni network.
ESB International

“Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, ESB International is a growing international energy business. It has operations across the energy value chain, from developing, constructing and operating power plants and windfarms, to generating, trading and supplying electricity in competitive energy markets. In addition, it provides engineering design, construction management and strategic consultancy services to customers within the ESB Group and across the globe”. ESB have provided funding for the Floating Doctors’ upcoming medical mission.

Meda is one of Europe’s leading specialty pharma companies, with focus on marketing and market-adapted product development. Long-term partnerships and acquisitions are fundamental factors in its strategy. Meda is represented in more than 20 countries and has more than 1000 employees in marketing and sales. Meda have provided donations of medications to the Floating Doctors.
Calmont Elementary School

Calmont School offers an enriched education. The teachers engage the students by helping them to develop their unique strengths and to set personal goals to explore other areas of potential interest. The supportive and professional staff provides the children with a safe environment in which they can grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, and creatively. The students, faculty and parents at Calmont held bake sales to raise funding for the Floating Doctors’ voyage.

The Lawrence Foundation is a private family foundation established by Jeff Lawrence and Diane Troth (husband and wife) in 2000 with some of the proceeds received from the acquisition of Trillium Digital Systems (a company Jeff co-founded) by Intel Corporation in 2000. Jeff left Intel Corporation in 2002 and is currently at Clivia Systems. The foundation is focused on making grants to support environmental, education, human services and other causes. Lawrence Foundation makes both program and operating grants and do not have any geographic restrictions on their grants. Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or public schools and libraries are eligible for contributions or grants.
Lone Wolf Colony

Lone Wolf Colony is a multi-use facility established in 1922 as a health ranch for fully ambulatory adults recovering from an injury, surgery, or non-communicable illness located at a 3,000 foot elevation in Apple Valley, California. Lone Wolf Colony has been designated a Historical Landmark in the town of Apple Valley and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation. Lone Wolf Colony supports many needy and charitable organizations in the High Desert and is designated an American Red Cross Relief Center to be used in case of disaster.

International Action

International Action are demonstrating in Haiti that an inexpensive chlorinator with new safe chlorine tablets can provide clean water in even the poorest community for less than 25 cents per person per year. Through village level training and installations they are developing teams to stop water-borne diseases in province after province. Their vision is of a world where every child will attend school, enhance their talents, and live to participate positively in their community. Clean water will be a most important public health measure to make this possible. International Action are providing albendazole, a medication for intestinal worms to the Floating Doctors 2009-2010 medical relief expedition.

Blue Sea Systems is a company comprised of avid boaters with decades of experience in craft ranging from runabouts to sailboats, and have years of blue water sailing experience. The engineering staff applies their previous experience designing test equipment, high amperage bus systems, circuit breakers, and marine systems to the Blue Sea Systems products they design. As an independent company, Blue Sea Systems is nimble, flexible, and responsive to customer needs and changes in the marine industry. Telcor Instruments has been manufacturing Marine Instrumentation for over 40 years. Common Ground is a marine electrical company. They manufacture electrical, instrument, switch and circuit breaker panels, as well as plug-in wiring harnesses and plug-in re-power packages including circuit protection enclosures. First Responder Educational Services

The FRES team of experts develop life-saving products and deliver On-Site CPR/AED, First Aid and Professional Rescue Training to Schools, Universities, MERT Teams, Police and Corporate Facilities to better train and prepare for life threatening medical emergencies. They are committed to providing the finest medical emergency equipment, Drug Kits and training available, and will customize their programs to meet facilities’ unique environment and personnel. John Alibrandi, President of FRES-CPR, has generously donated an offshore Res-Q-Kit, additional IV fluids and saline injections, and a HeartSine defibrillator to Floating Doctors.
